Start Task

Every process automatically begins with its one start task within a process, serving as the point at which all processes begin, defining where the work starts and where the work goes after it starts.

The Start Task definition contains an Entry Point tab which specifies the business rules that determine when a new process instance is started and when a new work item begins its workflow journey from Start Task to Finish Task.

Start Task Description

A single Start Task is where Progression starts every work item for a new process instance.  It is the only type of task that provides an Entry Point where the arrival of a new work item triggers a new process instance to begin its workflow process.

The Start Task serves as the entry point defining where work starts and where it goes after it starts the workflow for a process.

Note:  As each process definition is created, a Start Task is automatically created and placed in the Process Designer window ready for you to complete its specification.

A work item can not only be composed of captured scanned or digital documents/files, but can also be iForm documents that are created when a DocuPhase user or remote Anonymous (i.e., Global) user fills out and submits an electronic form and optional attachments to DocuPhase.

The following chart indicates the common Tabs with an “X” and its unique tabs and special features are listed, in the right column, for the Start Task.
