Viewer, Design & Admin User Permission Differences

The Analytics User/Group permissions can be set individually as well as in various combinations – This can produce different overlapping combinations of Analytics functionality which can be confusing.

The following table summarizes each of the three primary Analytics User/Group permission sets making it easier to see the functional differences between each and understand what happens when a user has multiple permission sets by combining their permission set checkmarks.

Note: The vertical-bar symbol (|) is a shorthand way to represent ‘Or’ (e.g., as in ‘User | Group’ represents ‘User or Group’).

Note:  The Analytics User/Group Permissions named Executive Dashboard, Operational Dashboard and Performance Dashboard can be considered as the same as the Analytics Viewer column in the table above.

When DocuPhase determines a User’s combined permission set, including Analytics-specific permissions, it computes a logical-union of a User’s explicitly assigned permissions and all of the permissions assigned to the Groups to which the user belongs.

Therefore, a User may be granted Analytics permissions directly as well as inherit the same or additional permissions from membership in one or more groups.

As a result, some Users can have full Analytics Viewer, Design and Admin permissions while an Analytics Administrator might have only ‘Analytics Admin’ permission and very limited or no access to Analytics documents for viewing or design based on their combined DocuPhase and DocuPhase Analytics permissions.
