Application

The term Application has several meanings depending on the context so when the appropriate context is not obvious, the name of the context is used to qualify the term such as:  DocuPhase Application, iForms Application, Google Application, Software Application, etc.

In DocuPhase, an Application is the digital equivalent of a filing cabinet.  Each Application utilizes a common set of index fields that describe the items stored in it so that searches are able to locate and display the desired document or set of documents from those stored in the Application cabinet.

Note:  A DocuPhase Application is a virtual and digital filing cabinet where certain types of documents are stored; whereas, an iForm is sometimes referred to as an iForm Application since the form template collects data related to a specific application-area and its captured document will be stored in a specified DocuPhase Application cabinet.  Progression refers to DocuPhase Application cabinets when building its workflow Document Definitions.

Comment:  In General, the term Application refers to a DocuPhase Application and the term “iForm” or “Form” is used instead of the term “iForm Application”.

For example, on a basic level, the Applications created and used within DocuPhase to store documents are similar to traditional filing cabinets. Examples of filing cabinets, and therefore Applications, that are common to many businesses include:  Accounting, Operations, Insurance, and Human Resources.

Typically, employees responsible for Insurance documentation store their Documents in a filing cabinet separate from employees responsible for tracking Operations. Having separate filing cabinets for the two departments is generally advantageous for the efficient storage and retrieval of information for each department.

It is also sometimes necessary to store particular Documents in a separate cabinet for the security or sensitivity of the contained information. Within DocuPhase, creating separate Applications for different departments also proves useful for similar reasons.

A Google Application is a Google Application Account that provides Google services after you log in.

A Software Application is an LOB-specific or generic software program or suite of programs that may be integrated with DocuPhase and iForms using the DocuPhase iLink module.
